Peugeot 308
Our driving impressions
For the first impression at the wheel of the Peugeot 308 we chose the streets of Milan. Now in the first redesign since 2007, his debut year on the market, the compact French adopted the new technology, micro-hybrid-HDi, which includes a start-stop generation, here combined with the turbo 1.6-liter, 112 hp and manual transmission six-speed transmission: a solution that promises fuel economy and low emissions, but not only.
Features. Already on sale in all versions (sedan, SW and CC), the newly renovated 308 changes especially in front and behind an unprecedented features chrome trim, while the cockpit has been modified only a few details. It takes little to find the driving position that suits your needs and, once inside, you appreciate the availability of space and good visibility.
How it goes. The 1.6-liter HDi and contributes to the enjoyment of driving, because delivery is fluid and smooth and is quiet and well insulated. Since the 1,500 rpm drives, with good progression. Compared to the combination with automatic transmission, particularly suited to the Start & Stop, already here the engine stops when the speed drops below 20 km / h, keeping active, of course, the booster fan and air conditioning. This increases the stages where you can save fuel. The House declares a mixture of consumption 4.5 l/100 km, which is reduced to 4.2 with tires for this purpose. The promised top speed of 190 km / h and 100 km / h from a standstill should be found in 11.4 seconds. For the rest, the steering is well calibrated and ready for confirmation in the load and the change good, although the grafts with a little 'thwarted. Not recommended 18 "wheels (optional on the sample in this test), ill-suited to the urban background.
